Horse Astragalus

Two different views of a horse astragalus (colloquially called the ankle bone) weathering out of the Upper Pleistocene Rogers Lake Beds, Death Valley National Park. In a horse, the astragalus articulates with the lower (distal) end of the tibia, helping the foot bones to move.
