Stove Pipe Wells Campground


A look northwestward from State Route 190 across Stove Pipe Wells Campground at Stove Pipe Wells Village to the Panamint Mountains in the background. Stove Pipe Wells Village was established in 1926 by Bob Eichbaum, who had been a veteran of the Rhyolite and Skidoo mining camp speculation booms; in Death Valley tourism he saw true financial gold. Stovepipe Wells thus became Death Valley's first tourist facility.
