Townes Pass

The signpost at famous Townes Pass, elevation 4,956 feet, along Highway 190. Prior to the Desert Protection Act in 1994, which established Death Valley National Park, Townes Pass was essentially the western entrance to Death Valley National Monument; this image was snapped from a moving vehicle while motoring along Highway 190.
